Well, apology accepted, from me anyways, but the question you're asking is still rather charged, in it's own particular way (and it still doesn't have anything to do with Irish-Gaelic -?
P.S. will this topic be done after this, please say so!! |

depends how and who you're trying to spread it too. i'm Roman-Catholic. so personally, i don't really like it at all, but i can respect that you want to spread your beliefs, as long as you do it with the knowledge that you might get people who are less accepting than i am really angry.
i'd suggest, having read the other thread, that you might want to do a bit more research into exactly what you're trying to spread, before you do. |

The reaction you got was because it was off-topic this forum is for the Irish language.
As someone else said, I'm sure you would have had the same reaction if you had proposed organising a Christian prayer meeting. Don't worry about this. Do your own thing and don't worry what anyone else thinks. And if later on you want help with translating some ritual phrases into Irish, I'm sure you'll find this group very willing to help. Recently we've helped a lot of wiccans name their knives and daggers, so there isn't an anti-pagan sentiment on this forum that I'm aware of. |

Trying to "spread" any religion here is a bad thing. You can be whatever you want, but trying to convert others here, or assuming that others here share your views is dangerous ground. As I said below "paganism" is not a religion...it is a catch-all term for all religions that are not Jewish, Christian or Muslim. Whatever your brand of paganism is, whether or not spreading it is a good thing or a bad thing from your point of view, is up to you. It's certainly not something I plan on doing! But please don't assume that, just because people here are studying Irish, they are into your religion. The fact is, the vast majority of people who speak Irish, either day to day or occasionally, are Christian, either actively or nominally. Of those who aren't, only a fragment would identify themselves as "pagan" (and we all know at least one who is Jewish!). As I said in the other post, it is no more appropriate for you to inquire here about spreading your religion than it would be for me to ask people here if they thought I should be promoting neighborhood prayer meetings. Spreading paganism is not a bad thing. Preaching what you believe to people who want to hear it is not a bad thing. Ask Jesus.
