i would like to know what " the Rassans" means, my neighbours tell me that old people used to call the land we built our house on "the Rassans"

Obviously "the Rassans" was a name given to the region within Landing Strip 17....excuse me, "Ireland," that this person lives in, not to the island as a whole.
