wow, we are quite the success at tangents again I see!!! hahaha

What about Rooti!!! It was good too!! Ya, if it aint A&W or Hires, it just aint root beer!! I made some homeade stuff once and had it stored in the back room ............... til one day I heard, *pop* ...... *pop* *pop* .....you get the picture!!! It got too hot and/or too much yeast and the majority of the bottle tops blew off, just when it was ready to drink too!! haha

A&W the only decent one...Dad's was okay....I liked pick-a-pop too...more for the novelty than the taste. A&W used to have the best creme soda too until they added that pink strawberry crap....bleck..perfectly good creme soda gone to waste.

If you ever get Jones soda..give that a try..haven't tried the rootbeer as I don't like rootbeer (except A&W) so the fear of trying new ones is great.

I'm hoping to bring some A&W rb for friends in Ireland to try but might have issues with cargo pressure and don't want to bother taking it on as carry-on.

And Tim Horton's coffee...bringing that with me too...the Irish, as I understand, have a hard time coming across a decent cup of coffee....I'll be teaching them a thing or two about the nectar of the gods.....

One of the etherial oils in root beer is used in Europe in pharmaceuticals - in Germany, it's a medicinal mouthwash called Hexoral, and therefore every German you stick in front of root beer will either tell ya "mouthwash" or "reminds me of my last trip to the dentist"

Like my reaction to Jägermeister - I call it Jägertussin (like Robitussin DM) because THAT not only tastes like, but has the consistency of cough syrup.

Dr. Pepper is Coke with .... prune extract *grins* (now I bet yer all feeling ill) among other things, but I still like it. The Germans tend to like that one more because some claim that it kinda smells like marzipan...

I think root beer tastes similar to birch beer...I know when I was younger, we used to chew on new twigs of the sugar birch to kinda get the taste of root beer.
