I was wondering if anybody could help with a couple of words
1) Love
2) Know (as in knowledge or wisdom. ex. 'I know the fate of the world')
- thanks

1.) is easy. Grá 2.) is not so, because Irish doesn't have a verb for "know." Instead, it uses the knows for knowledge with prepositions Tá a fhios agam = Knowledge of it is at me = I know it. Tá eolas agam = Knowledge/Information is at me = I know. Fios is general knowledge. It is related to words like "wisdom" and "vision." Eolas is more specialized. Knowledge, specific knowledge, information, learning. |

"Love" is "grá"
"Know" isn't quite so easy. It's not a one-word translation. "I know that" = Tá a fhíos agam é sin "Do you know the way?" = An bhfuil eolas na slí agat? "Do you know him?" = An bhfuil aithne agat air? I'm not sure how you'd say "I know the fate of the world"...maybe "Tá eolas agam faoi cinníuint an domhain" (?) Definitely wait for further input.
