I was wondering if anybody could help with a couple of words

1) Love
2) Know (as in knowledge or wisdom. ex. 'I know the fate of the world')

- thanks

1.) is easy. Grá

2.) is not so, because Irish doesn't have a verb for "know." Instead, it uses the knows for knowledge with prepositions

Tá a fhios agam = Knowledge of it is at me = I know it.

Tá eolas agam = Knowledge/Information is at me = I know.

Fios is general knowledge. It is related to words like "wisdom" and "vision."

Eolas is more specialized. Knowledge, specific knowledge, information, learning.

"Love" is "grá"

"Know" isn't quite so easy. It's not a one-word translation.

"I know that" = Tá a fhíos agam é sin

"Do you know the way?" = An bhfuil eolas na slí agat?

"Do you know him?" = An bhfuil aithne agat air?

I'm not sure how you'd say "I know the fate of the world"...maybe "Tá eolas agam faoi cinníuint an domhain" (?) Definitely wait for further input.
