Re: "idir bhuí agus bhán."

When "idir" lenites, it means "both."

"idir bhuí agus bhán" -> "both the yellow and the white" of the egg.

Re: "cuirfidh Colm láidir Mag Uí Ghogaí ina luí."

"Cuir" often corresponds with "tá" phrases of state/condition as "causing" the state or condition.

Tá fearg orm = There is anger on me = I am angry
Chuir sé fearg orm = He put anger on me = He made me angry

Tá orm dul abhaile anois = Going home now is upon me = I have to go home
Tá mo mhamaí ag cur orm dul abhaile anois = My mom is making me go home now.

So: Tá MUG ina luí = MUG is in his lying = MUG is lying down
Cuirfidh Colm láidir MUG ina luí = Colm láidir will put MUG in his lying down = Colm láidir will make him lie down.

I thought that translation was a nice lesson in Hiberno-English - but fair plé duit for the grammar :)
Once, as a child, out in a field of sheep/Thomas Hardy pretended to be dead/And lay down flat among their dainty shins.
In that sniffed-at, bleated-into, grassy space/He experimented with infinity/His small cool brow was like an anvil waiting
For sky to make it sing the prefect pitch/Of his dumb being, and that stir he caused/In the fleece-hustle was the original
Of a ripple that would travel eighty years/Outward from there, to be the same ripple/Inside him at its last circumference.

Can't speak for the rest, but for myself, I have no social life....

Mar a duirt Seán Michael i "The Secret of Roan Inish": "Ní mise bhur n-asal, a ainmhíthe gallda. Sacaigí suas i bhur dtóin é!"

IGTF is our social life.

Actually, scratch the "social" part . . . :schreiben:
