I just went to a Pub in Charlotte, NC -- and the name was Rí Rá. If you can believe it, no one knew what the name actually meant... Everyone told me the regular barman was Irish, and could tell me but he would not be in until next week... Some Help? By the way it was a brilliant pub...

Well, "rí" is "king" and "rá" is "saying," but I have no idea what they might mean together like that.

is it possible that it doesn't actually have a specific meaning with those two words together and just sounds neat when you say it?

rí-rá is an Irish onomatopoeia (sp?) for a parade or a big to-do AFAIK
it's just meaningless syllables like "tra la la" Is é Christian Stoehr mo chroí

it's charlotte, red. charlotte has a tendency to do things weirdly. like try to divorce itself from the rest of the state...but don't get me started there...
  ALWAYS get a second opinion on anything I, or anyone else, attempt to translate or transliterate.

We have in Scots Gaelic the word "rù-ra" (with a "ù" not an ì"), meaning a jumble or confusion.
