If anyone know's anything about this person....or Drum Castle, or Irvin Castle...please let me know. I'm working on family history, and I know I'm related to this person...but haven't been able to find much information. I traveled to Scotland to visit Drum Castle...but even they had little to none information. Thanks all!!

According to 3rd URL down "Irwin" is from Welsh "Ir-Avon" = "Green River". I think "Ir" can mean "Fresh".

Wow thanks so much for all the cool links macfhionn!!!
I'm only here to have fun, learn, and practice my Irish. My translations may not be exactly what you request, or even correct, but you certainly don't have to use them. Feel free to get a 2nd, 6th, or 100th different opion.

I wonder why the name Irwyn, which is the Welsh version of Irvine, is used.
"Dúid" Breatnach an tí. Is Breatnach deas mé.
Cymru 11 Lloegr 9 (Wales 11 England 9) Ha Ha! My Irish is not very good, but I have kickass Welsh! I don't make mistakes in Welsh. |
