I would love some help translating the following for a tattoo of a wedding ring: Back off, Bitch! (pardon my French)

Part of my family line can be traced back to the clan Douglas from Scotland. Could someone translate a family motto I have found: Many men have seen the river, but few have seen its source. I suppose Scottish gaelic would be preferred here, but I'll take what I can get.

the thing about "bitch" is irish, it *could* be intepreated as slut :roll:

We've been married for 14 years and since I cannot wear any of the rings I have now, a tattoo sounds logical (it's not my first). The saying was presented as a lark to begin with, but it has grown on me. I think it's kinda funny. I have a japanese symbol on my back that I'm pretty sure says "strength of spirit", but if a squiggle is out of place it could be interpreted as something else too... knowwhatimean?

Well, there are technically two words for "bitch." One, "soith," simply means "female dog." The other, "bitseach," means "bitch" in the perjorative sense, but is clearly bearlachas and, as Conor pointed out, can also be interpreted to mean "slut."

Yeah, but I'm only seeing that translated explicitly as "whore," not as "bitch." Definitely wouldn't want that one!

Personally, I think a simple "I'm taken" might be the best for this kind of tattoo, but that's just me!

this is intended as a warning to other ladies... although I am Irish/Scottish, my wife comes from a large Italian family. Nice mix, I know.
