"i ngar do" is not technically a compound preposition.
A compund preposition is when you have a simple preposition -- like "ar" -- combined with a noun -- like "cúl" that combine to form a new idea: "ar chúl." Since the main word is a noun -- cúl, "back," the relationship to the noun is a genitive one: "on the back of the house" -> "ar chúl an tí" = "behind the house." "i ngar do" ends with a simple preposition, so the connection between "i ngar do" and is just as simple dative relationship: i ngar do chruachás |
