If you could help me, I have been searching for the history of my surname, Tripp, for quite a while. I have been able to find no records, and I was wondering if anyone here knew the general area or history of this name. All I know is that a descendant came to USA from Dublin in the 1800's. Thank You.

I found diddly on Tripp, according to Ireland.. It appears Tripp is English..

well, don't be too surprised.. Lots of English moved to Ireland I back then I think.. (Mostly the Protestants up north taking the Catholics land) but it's all good.

I'll try to sustain from my political speaking.. :mrgreen:

Yep it was the plantations in the 16th / 17th century

the Ulster plantation was the most successful, the Munster one the least
