The word "fianna" means "soldiers." What would the singular form be?

It means soldiers in the sense of:

Fianna Fáil - Soldiers of Destiny (Irish Rep. Political Party and name of Irish Rep. Defence Forces);

and Na Fianna which were warriors in Irish myth.

It would be wrong to use it in the context of a modern soldier.

For example: Pte. Private (Mil.) = SS: Saighdiúir singil...Soldier single.
