How do you correctly say "Always with you" and "Always with me"
I've seen
in aice leat go deo
in éineacht leat go deo
I gcónaí a bhfuil tú

For Always with you

and
Liomsa go deo
I gcónaí le liom

For Always with me
but that I think is actually With me, always. And one is modern Irish which is no good.
Not being a scholar I dont know what is grammatically correct for gaelic. Could someone help?

I believe I gcónaí a bhfuil tú (with you) and I gcónaí le liom are new modern Irish, but as a non speaker, I could be wrong.
I guess I'm looking for Middle Irish....I'm looking for the Gaeltachta language that would have been common in 1840. I'm unclear exactly which version that might be but at least I know why it's such a problem Frankly I'm also looking for something that captures my heritage for an engraving on a ring. So if there are variants as long as the meaning is the same I might decide for something that is more visually appealing.

I dont boast of my heritage at all, but I am proud of my heritage and all my family had to do to allow me to be at the place I am in my life. Though never a reliable source, I looked up the full long history on Wikipedia and as such I'm confused because the time frame I'm looking for is absent from the history. Now I know that a good reason it's mostly absent is because it was deemed illegal for the most part. I'm attempting to reclaim something that I've lost. So yes, you're right. I dont speak Irish of any form, but it's not for lack of wanting too. I live in Boston. Specifically I live in a town that is 95% irish. Nearly every person in my town had relatives that came here during the famine because there were jobs here building a hand build dam. I assure you that my town is more Irish than 90% of America. Perhaps that isn't good enough for wherever you're from, but you were decidedly less than helpful (you didn't give me my answer and gave me no way of furthering my search) and I really expected better from people on a forum about linguistics to get harassed by a common internet troll.

I really didn't expect asking a question would require some magically leprechaun blarney handshake and I certainly didn't think I needed to defend my heritage. The three generations of my family that have been in this country have all married Irish brides. Before that we lived in county Cork and Limerick for as long as the general registrar office of has records of. If I wanted the modern day equivalent of it I'd go across the street and ask my neighbor who came from Cork two years ago.

So, I guess what I'm looking for is Cork Irish...of course you could just tell me that I'm unworthy of such knowledge again.

The language spoken in 1840 is the same language spoken today in the Gaeltacht.
Although less richer and pure now with the influence of the outside world on the younger generations. As Seán said it would've been written differently as there wasn't a Standard then.

I doubt very much if your neighbour from Cork can speak any Irish.
