I am looking to translate words, of " life, laughter, love" from English to Old Irish. I would like to have them translated to the original/oldest language from Ireland, specifically Galway or Mayo. When was Ogham used, and is that what I should be using as a reference of history? I have found three different translations which were "saol, gaire, gra" as well as "beatha, gaire, gra", and "gra, gaire, saol". I can date my family history back to 1200 AD, and this is for the family, so I would like to get the most historical version of those three words translated from English.

Of the two words for life, saol and beatha, I think beatha is the more appropriate here.

Old Irish was used up until 900-1000 ad so in the period around 1200 ad it would have mutated into Middle Irish.

But from an online Old Irish Dictionary I got these

betha, gáire, grád
life, laughter, love


And as for ogham you'd get more information by googling it than I can give you.

That is the way it would be spoken or written in Ireland? The phrasing is so different than english, I think that is why I have found different translations via internet.
