Aye but what did the Romans ever do for us either? :D

Why don't ye say it straight out if there's something wrong with a translation I offer, or would ye rather see people like Natasha here walking around with bad Irish on her skin because I typed something wrong or slipped up on the grammar...?
Ye folk have no real interest in the language, ye just want to score points off me. That's fair enough but think about the poor fuckers that just want a translation. I'm sorry but I think there is room for more Irish than just your site and this constant snidey posting here does not help the language at all.
I know that ye had a falling out with the owners of this site and that's why ye went elsewhere, there are precedents for this sort of thing after all. Look at the Pilgrim Fathers. But what I don't understand is why ye think ye have to keep up an attack on this site. Ye would probably do yourselves a greater favour if ye stayed away or behaved as if ye had a wee bit of sense, or were a wee bit grown up about the whole thing.
So I will continue to translate stuff here to the best of my ability and hope that someone will catch my errors and correct them before they become permanent, for the sake of the person who has asked, rather than just to prove me wrong. Proving me wrong is all too easy, but don't tell me tell the OP.

Gealún. You look like you just want to promote the language and help people who are looking for translations. This is exactly what the group of people who have been treated shamefully and banned from this site were trying to do. Many invested years of their time doing exactly what you do now. They are the ones who helped build this site up to what it is now - or at least what it was before they were booted out. The site became commercially successful and was taken over by a group of people who have no interest in Irish - only profit. That is their right, but they should not bite the hand that feeds them. BTW, their 'word of the day' translation continues to be out outrageously wrong time after time for months on end - they have been told but don't seem to care.

To say 'Ye folk have no real interest in the language' is ridiculous and you know it. You are no different to those who were banned - i.e. willing to give your time to promote Irish. Perhaps you are different though. You don't seem to care about the excessive advertising on the site, which has been cut back a bit due to the dispute with the regular contributors. Nor do you care that so many good people were treated so badly by the site owners. That is disappointing. I always feel a kinship with others who have an interest in the Irish language, and a desire to stand with those who have been badly treated.

So, if you find that others are not so positive towards you, you really ought to know why. Try to see things from their perspective. Having been treated so badly by the owners of this site, certain people would happily see this site disappear off the face of the earth. The fact that it continues to operate gives the owners no cause to regret their unjust treatment of the regular contributors to the site. You cause this situation to continue and will not be applauded for doing so.

I can't tell you what to do, but it would make more sense for you to join with and support those who have a genuine interest in the language than to continue to prop up a site which cares nothing about the Irish language or those who love it.

I don't understand, do the owners of this site speak Irish? If not, why don't we just bugger off to another URL?

scúbaí,
OK so a bunch of you disagreed with the present owner and ye all moved over and formed your own alternative site.
You said that ye felt ye were betrayed because you had put a lot of work into building up the site to a commercially successful commodity, but let me ask this question - did the previous owner or owners consult ye before the site was sold?
We all get shafted somewhere sometime by someone and you have to move on, but at least you should recognize who did the shafting.
I don't know the most of you because ye weren't around when I used this site years ago, I have only met you recently and I can only judge you through what has been posted here.
Ye carry on in whatever way you deem fit, I can't tell ye what to do, but I personally think that your behavior here is just childish.
Anyway tata for now lads and lasses, see you on the next post.
