This is the opening line I think, as far as memory serves.
Never liked the book much myself...but that was years ago when I read it, I might think differently now.

Yes...Thank you very much, those are the words. It's not my favourite book either. A bit of a miseryfest :roll: ...there wasn't a whole lot of laughter in that book..Thanks again

I think there is a difference between the school edition (standardised) and the original edition.

Posts get deleted by mods so often on this forum that is is very confusing for people. I don't understand why. :(

There are probably a few variations of this knocking around as Peig herself couldn't write in Irish so she dictated her stories, and dictated stories for some reason are regarded as fair game for editors.
