When you know what you are looking for. That "Scots" is an English dialect. I'm fairly certain Maverick meant Scottish Gaelic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scottish_Gaelic Scottish Gaelic originated from Irish. They were once the same language. But over time both dialects changed enough to become two separate language. If you were fluent in one or the other you might be able to follow the written form, as they are very similar grammatically and some words are identical except for the accent going in the opposite direction, but spoken languages would not be mutually understandable. |

The OP said Scots. The page I brought up was among the first featured in my Google search. Doing a little research and reading up on the related material to that which one finds, helps one answer one's own questions, the simple ones especially. ![]() ![]() Labhair í agus mairfaidh sí!
