Hi everyone,

I know it has been translated several times but I have seen two different translations that I'm curious about.

I'm interested in getting a tattoo of "This too shall pass."

Searching through the forum I see two different translations that have come up several times.

The first is: Imeoidh sé seo freisin

The second is: Imeoidh sé seo leis

I'm wondering if there is a real semantic difference between the two suggestions. Any info on the potential differences would be appreciated.

They both mean the same thing. Just a wee bit "dialect" difference.

Having done some research on my own I have a better understanding of the different dialects now. Which brings me to another question, my family are from the county Clare and I've found several different answers as to which dialect they tend to Use. Some information I've found mentioned munster probably being the primary dialect but there were conflicting answers. Can anyone possibly shed some light on the differences between the two translations above as far as which might be more appropriate for me?
Any help would greatly be appreciated!!!

To grossly simplify it...The Clare "dialect" fell somewhere between Munster and Connacht Irish so depending whether your family came from the northern part of the county or the southern part would probably help decide which phrase to choose.
