I'm writing an original story that will *hopefully* one day be published. One of the main characters in it is from Ireland and was raised in a bilingual household - his family speaks English and Gaelic. He also happens to lead a somewhat less than respectable life, and happens to swear on more than the odd occasion. I know that English swears don't translate into Gaelic and aren't used in the same way; saying "sh*t" in English doesn't work when people go around saying "cac". And I'm not interested in crude, English-style cussing. I'm looking for actual cursing, somewhere along the lines of 'your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries'. I'm looking for things he can say under his breath as he's running from cops, things he can spit in his enemy's face when they're in the middle of a fistfight, etc. I'm trying to keep this real and authentic, and I'm having difficulty finding reliable translations on these things. If there's anyone out there who's able to give me a hand, I'd really appreciate it.
