fiarefeadha's question was important. In Irish, you need to know what kind of little thing is involved. It's possible to say ceann beag ("[a] little one"), but it would sound odd by itself, out of context, and since you mentioned it being something which a person might be called, it would be duine beag ("[a] little person"), except that If you were calling someone that in person (i.e. speaking to the person), then it would be A dhuine bhig ("O Little Person").
