Hello everyone.
I would like to translate into gaelic a phrase from a poem of T.S. Eliot
"Only through time time is conquered"
Can you please help??

Hello. I know it sounds kind of strange the phrase by Eliot but what it actually means,well at least to me is that you have to embrasse time so as to manage it. The question is can you manage time? If you live second by second and hour by hour you do. If you spend time thinking of what you did or time thinking of what you want to do then you have spent it. But if you live everything at it's time you have made the best use of it for you. Does that help a bit? I want to make this phrase in a tattoo and it means a lot to me.

Hi, as I'm still a beginner I take the opportunity to practice my Irish by trying to translate this and I hope people will correct me because I'm not sure at all, here is my try:

Buann tú ar an t-am ach tríd an t-am.

(maybe a negative form should be used when it's 'ach' to say 'only')

Tríd an t-am amháin atá an t-am buaite.

I know 'trí mheán' means 'by means of' so it might be better.

Again I'm not sure. Waiting for a correction
