I saw this in a catalog of Irish chotchkes that my wife gets and I thought it would make a good saying carved into a band around a cremation urn. The saying is "For Every Joy That Passes, Something Beautiful Remains" I would like to have this translated into Gaelic as I think it would have more meaning for someone in their native tongue.
thanks

Do gach gliondar a théann tharainn, fágtar ní aoibhneach ina áit literally: (For every joy that goes passes us by (tharainn - over us), it leaves something beautiful in its place)
Or: Do gach gliondar a shiúlann tharainn, fágtar ní aoibhneach ina áit (for every joy that walks past us, leaves something beautiful in its place)
Wait for other suggestions.

Thanks. Yes I will wait for others. I think the gist of the saying is more along the lines of "when someone that brings you joy dies, they leave something beautiful behind" It is a little more elegant using 'passes' for dies and reducing the description to just 'Joy'. The literal is not nearly as elegant as the poetic (isn't that how life really works?)

Is there no one else to help me? Or are we all agreed that the standing translation is the best?
thanks....Alex

Perhaps:
Fágtar ní aoibhneach tar éis chuile aoibhnis a théann thart "Something beautiful is left after every joy that passes by"
