Hey,

I've been trying to get my friends to translate the following:

"hear me now, words I vow, no fucking regrets"

They keep pointing to chaning the word "fucking", but they cannot agree on the exact translation. So if anyone can provide, it would really help me.

If you substitute the word, please let me know! Or can you provide alternatives. I would prefer exact as it is a lyric for a tattoo.

The problem is that there is no exact translation for "fucking". Some would say that there's no such thing as an exact translation for any word or phrase, but this is particularly true for the English word, fuck. This is probably because the word can be used in so many ways; a noun, a verb, etc. as well as simply, as here, to add emphesis to another word or statement, where it's not necessarily needed, and, hence, its omission wouldn't change the meaning of the phrase.

With that having been said, perhaps you'd consider a translation without including a translation for "fucking". Alternatively, in gaeltacht areas you would commonly hear the word "fuck" (and all variations of it) being thrown into Irish phrases as it would be used in English, so if you wanted to you could simply have the rest of the lyrics translated and use "fucking" in its English form.

In any case, we need more information from you. You can tell us if you'd like us to give you translations with it in its English form, without it altogether, or, if you're still set on having it translated, we'll need you to tell us what you think it adds to this statement so that we can give you a close Irish alternative for it.

I know its annoying but could I have all of the above? For example: with fucking, without it, and alternatives? My friend said bloody, or damn. I can't think of anything closer than that.

I just would like to be able to make an informed judgement.

with an Irish substitute for the "f" word, being diabhal, or "devil", analogous to expressions in English like "the devil you say", "the devil with that" or "the devil I will":

"An diabhal leis aiféala"
"[to] the devil with regret[s]"

adding the "f" word (left in English) to the above:

Thank you!! I think these two are fine rather than the devil and the f word, I wonder if I can get that confirmed?
