Hello -

I would love to get my boyfriend an engraved bracelet with the words his father always told him:

"Never forget who you are and where you're from".

It would be so very meaningful if it were in Irish Gaelic. Thank you in advance!

"Ná dearmad an áit" or "Ná déan dearmad ar an áit"

but I dont think the latter part of the sentence is correct anyway.

I suggest

"Ná dearmad cé thú féin ná an áit arbh as duit

or

"Ná dearmad cé thú féin ná d'áit dúchais"

Is it also possible to have the pronunciation phonetically spelled out? If it's not too much trouble... I would like to memorize it.

Some of the words would vary by dialect in their pronunciation:

Ná dearmad = naw JER-mudd [or: DYER-mudd]

cé thú féin = kay hoo hayn [or: fayn]

ná ar an áit = naw arr un awtch

ar tháinig tú as = arr HAW-nig too ahss [some might say "thoo" in place of "too"]

In my phonetics:
-- "arr" = like the "arr" in the word "arrogant", not as in the word "are"
-- "ay" = as in the word "day"
-- "aw" = as in the word "draw"
