Is this, both English & Gaelic, to anyone's knowledge done? I have found this otherwise elsewhere and I'm trying to verify if it is correct.

I think it was a prayer originally written in old Irish, and then translated to English. Old Irish isn't spoken anymore and I'm not sure whether or not there's an official Irish translation of it.
Await confirmation always, please.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking. Are you asking if there's an Irish version of St. Patrick's Breastplate? Or have you found an Irish version that you want to verify? If the latter, please post the version you have found.

As Gumbí mentioned, this would have originally been written in Old Irish. Modern Irish versions were most likely translated from English, so they may vary one from the other. We can't tell if the version you have is correct without seeing it.

We also need to know how much of this piece (which wasn't a prayer so much as it was a hymn invoking God's protection) you're looking for. Outside of modern hymnals, only part that is technically the "breastplate" is the bit that goes "Christ be with me/Christ within me/etc." The entire piece (including the "I bind unto" verses) is generally known as "The Deer's Cry."

That is The Deer's Cry, but it's in Old Irish, an we have no way to verify it (it's as different from contemporary Irish as Old English -- think Beowulf -- is from contemporary English). You may need to run that one past a university linguistics department.

The very last bit you have there is Latin. I don't have much of my school Latin anymore, but someone here may be able to verify it.

There are contemporary Irish translations out there, if you're interested in something like that.

Some of the lines towards the end have been translated before into modern Irish, although I'm not sure where I got it (I did not do the translation):

Actually, if you can read Irish and have that English translation, you can pretty much decipher the old Irish in the text (a few words are hard to figure out, and some of the grammar too, of course), enough at least that I can tell you that one of the Old Irish lines is missed in the translation which you were given. The missing line occurs in a string of similar phrases, so I suspect someone's eye just skipped to the next line accidentally while translating. The line missing from the translation is the one in red below:

ar forimthechtaib aicnid,
ar cech duine mídúthrastar dam,

eDIL suggests that forimthét means ‘go walking, walk about, go about one’s way’, which makes good sense from the components (for- ‘on’, im- ‘about/around’, tét = téigh ‘go’).

So, ar forimthecthaib aicnid would appear to mean ‘from a wandering/straying mind’, I’d guess.
Not a native speaker. If in doubt, await native confirmation.

I meant to mention as well that, on first going through it, I thought there were several such errors, but then I realized that in some cases an expression which is on one line in the Old Irish is on two lines in the English, and vice versa, so they do not always line up correctly (I save songs with the translation side-by-side, so I can spot problems like that).
I'm still a learner, so be sure to get input from others, especially for tattoos.
