That's interesting, because I would assume this is not a once only state or a particular instance but something that happens whenever, i.e., every time, the speaker is in that condition, i.e., next to their special person, exactly the kind of situation that does call for the habitual, not tá.

I hope ye don't mind my sticking my nose in, but maybe you could also consider something along the lines of: Le hais na bhflaitheas a bhímse agus mé le d'ais. Three should agree on any translation.
