I just purchased the home of my dreams and I would like to name it in accordance with an old family tradition. I would like to get an accurate translation from English to Irish of the phrase "Peaceful Home".

oh, and also, if possible, a pronunciation would be great too, so that I can actually say it properly too! Thanks!

baile suaimhneach
peaceful home

The latter one is ambiguous, and could also mean things such as "peaceful town" or "peaceful townland".

I'd go with "teach suaimhneach"

Thank you so much for the help. I see the difference between the two options but I am actually leaning more toward "baile suaimhnech" because it is a 5 acre property, not just a house. Does that seem appropriate? Is there any way I could get a pronunciation so that I can say it properly when people ask what it is?

Personally, I'd stay away from baile for this usage. Perhaps "Áit Suaimhneach": Peaceful Place, or "Tearmann Suaimhneach": Peaceful Refuge.

Do watch the spelling...it's "suaimhneach," not "suaimhnech."

You can use this link to get to a site where you can type in Irish words or phrases and hear them pronounced, but note that it seems to work better word by word or in small chunks, and it favors the Ulster dialect (which shouldn't matter much in the case of these particular words)
