Hi everyone,

I am hoping some of you could reply to this email with some translations that i'm hoping to get for a tattoo. I wanted the following translated if possible:

"the road less travelled" and "protect your own" into gaelic irish please.

If anybody could translate these i'd be greatly appreciative!!

Perhaps, then:

Cosain do mhuintir féin: Protect your own people/family.

I like "muintir" here because it can mean "family," but it can also be extended to mean your "people".

Well, here are some possibilities:

Cosain do mhuintir [If said to one person]
Cosnaígí bhur muintir[eacha] [If said to more than one person]
Protect your family/folks/people/tribe
Adding the eacha in the second one would indicate that each person being addressed is to protect his/her own family/group/whatever.

Cosain na daoine is leatsa [If said to one person]
Cosnaígí na daoine is libhse [If said to more than one person]
Protect your people [the people who are yours] [here it is "people" in the literal sense]

I was still typing when Red answered. Her idea of adding féin to Cosain do mhuintir is a good one.
