Translation: The father survives in the heart of his daughter

It is a latin quote that I would like to translate to Gaelic...... I am looking at getting it as a tattoo in memory of my father. Any help would be much appreciated!

Maireann an t-athair sa chroí a iníne is that not over-qualification? There's a possessive adjective and a definite article.

Or am I getting confused?

You're probably right. It should be "Maireann an t-athair i gcroí a iníne"

I recently ran into some one and asked them to translate the quote and they responded:

Marieann an t-athair I gcroí a iníona

What is the difference?

the spelling is shite in this version
and a íníona is plural - his daughters

..i gcroí a íníne - ...in the heart of his daughter

I would phrase it as I gcroí a iníne a mhaireann an t-athair
