“Gaelic” — Irish or Scottish?

There are three Gaelic languages: Irish, Scottish Gaelic, and Manx. Usually when people say “Gaelic” they are referring to the Scottish one. However, older people in Ireland tend to refer to Irish as “Gaelic”, so it can get confusing.
This forum is for Irish, and although we can often get the gist of something written in Scottish Gaelic, we can’t really do translations in it. If you want Scottish Gaelic, here is a forum you can try. It’s not as active as this one, so you may have to wait a little longer for a translation:

It has been very interesting to me this language.I know is because the Irish culture is very fascinating,music as well.
I would like to know more internet pages,where to get literature info,legends,more music,more culture!.
I am from Mexico, and we also have a great culture, i think we can share our antique legacy.

Im from Scotland and im trying to learn my language as the place i lived in spoke English.
Irish and Scottish Gaelic are completly different and me and my Irish friend get confused when we say Gaelic as we think of our own language.
Always say “Irish” or “Scottish” before the word Gaelic so its easier to know. Plus scottish gaelic can be know as Gàidhlig, Gaelic, Scots Gaelic, Albannach Gaidhlig, Erse. Hopes this helps

I am young and I know a lot of Irish gaeilic and I think it is better even thought I’m from Ireland. That’s not the reason. Irish is organised and used in Ireland in some places but Scottish is all over the place and is barely used
