Lyrics To Irish Songs

I thought it might be handy to have a list of good places to look for song lyrics in Irish, and translations. If we get a good collection, we might make this thread a link on the left.

The easiest way to find a translation for the lyrics of a song is to Google for several of the words in the song. Longer words usually work best for this, and spelling is very important. But the sites below also have good collections of the most popular songs in Irish.

anyone have the irish version of the following song Black is the Colour…

Black is the color of my true love’s hair
Her lips are like some roses fair
She has the sweetest smile and the gentlest hands.
I love the ground whereon she stands

I love my love and well she knows
I love the ground whereon she goes.
And I wish the day, it soon will come
That she and I will be as one

I’ll go to the Clyde and I’ll mourn and weep
Where satisfied I never shall be
I’ll write her a letter, just a few short lines
And suffer death ten thousand times

Hi there An old friend of mine who is eighty two has been trying to recall an old song he used to sing He thinks it was called The Fleeting or The Fleeing It was about people moving out of their home using a horse and cart as transport One person was given the baby cradle to hold and another held the clock on his knee Has anyone any idea of this song as it would make an old man very happy

It’s a shame that none of the websites have the sheet music with them.
But they’re all very good for looking for the lyrics to Irish songs.
